Speaker Information

Fiona McConnell MEd | BA (Hons) | FHEA

Digital Skills Training Officer, UHI Inverness

I’ve spent over 15 years building my career in learning and development, initially designing training academies as a Curriculum Lead in Santander's finance sector. My journey brought me to UHI Inverness in 2017, where I now serve as the Digital Skills Training Officer. In this role, I’m responsible for developing and delivering digital skills training courses, learning and teaching inductions, and creating all supporting materials for our staff.

My academic journey started with a BA (Hons) in Textiles from the Glasgow School of Art, followed by an HNC in Learning and Development. Recently, I completed my MEd in Digital Pedagogy, and I am a Fellow of AdvanceHE since 2021, with my Senior CMALT certification eporfolio submitted in September 2024 still awaiting outcome.

In addition to my role, I’ve wrapped up a short research project on chatbot applications, as part of UHI Inverness’s Enquiring Minds Scheme, showcasing our commitment to exploring digital innovation.
