Gendered Bodies Cafe Conversation: Being Human Festival
Mon 21 November 2016, 18:00 – 20:00 GMT
The representation of girl, women and abstracts of femininity within the media is having a renaissance in terms of political, cultural and social debate. The conversations have left the confines of the academic classroom to the far flung reaches of the online web and has thus opened up a long-awaited discussion about not only problems and virtues of gender, but its very meaning. Academics from the University of East Anglia will host an interactive session reflecting on the ways in which assumptions are made about bodies and women’s (and girls) agency. Led by Dr Helen Warner, the session will invite attendees to reflect on their own experiences of gender and the body.
