About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 15 minutes

Trans? Queer? Nervous about going swimming? Have we got the event for you! Board Gaymes is proud to present Genderfluid - an inclusive pool party for all queer folk.

Many of our trans friends and fellow gaymers have told us how they used to love going swimming before concerns about swimwear, changing rooms, and anxiety about public perception stopped them. Recent decisions (we all know what) have only heightened these fears. We’re responding in true Board Gaymes style - by hosting a party dedicated to maximum trans inclusion and joy!

What?
Private pool party - two pools, a flume, sauna, steam room and hot tub (feel free to chill in the hot tub less than five feet apart because we’re all gay). We’re following all of this up with a tea party - that’s right, we’re going full retro kids’ pool party here. Bring your pool toys and swimming costumes!

Where?
Garston Lifestyles. Get the train to Liverpool South Parkway, which is a ten-minute walk away. Or get the 500 bus from Liverpool One, and it’s a 15-minute walk. Parking is free at Garston Lifestyles.

When?
Saturday 2nd August, 14:45-16:45. Do not arrive late (or early!) for this one gang, or we won’t be able to let you in. It’s an hour in the pool, followed by an hour in the party room.

Frequently asked questions

Who can come to this?

Everyone. This event is focused on trans people, but we’re no gatekeepers, and recognise that there are many different intersectional reasons why people might feel excluded from swimming as themselves. Do you want to come? Then this event is for you.

Accessibility?

There are no steps throughout the entrance and changing rooms, there are small and large changing cubicles, and a family changing room is available. People regularly leave wheelchairs and walking aids at the side of the pool during normal opening hours.

Do I need a ticket?

Yes! We need to give exact numbers to the pool 7 days beforehand, so sales will close then. If you buy a ticket and don’t intend to come, please ask for a refund to allow us to offer it to out wait list!

Who else will be in the pool?

This is a private event, we have booked the entire pool.It will only be us swimming at the time. But please be aware there will be public swim sessions either side of the party.

What do I wear to swim?

Whatever you damn well please! As long as you’re comfortable and not, like, pussy out to the world, you’re good. You’re welcome to wear a t-shirt or shorts over the top, as long as they’re not a heavy fabric that will make it difficult for you to swim

What if I'm ill?

Please don’t come if you’re sick! Normal Board Gaymes rules still apply - we don’t want people to get sick from our events. If it’s less than 7 days before the event and you can’t refund through Eventbrite, message or email us and we can manually give you a refund.

What's the changing room situation?

The changing rooms are a unisex “changing village” style with separate cubicles. Lockers are 20 p (returnable). Toilets are male and female, but we won’t be policing who goes where - no Piss Police here.

Organized by

We're a trans-led organisation that started in September 2023, with a goal to build community and resilience for queer and trans folks in Liverpool and the Merseyside area through a shared passion for board games and a love of dumb puns.
