This session provides a clear and accessible introduction to data protection for individuals working or volunteering within the charity and voluntary sectors. It offers a practical foundation in the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, highlighting why data protection is essential and how it supports safe, lawful and trustworthy handling of personal information.
🔑 What You Will Learn
Participants will explore the core principles of data protection, the differences between personal and special category data, and the practical steps required to manage both appropriately. The session will also cover individuals’ rights, common data security risks, how to recognise and report data breaches, and good practice for collecting, storing and using personal data in day-to-day voluntary work. The content is designed for those with little or no prior knowledge and aims to build confidence in applying data protection requirements responsibly.
