Peterlee Business Park will be holding its next event on the 21st November from 8.30 - 10.30, Peterlee. Delegates will hear about the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). This regulation comes into force on 25th May 2018. GDPR affects every organisation regardless of size and type; any organisation storing person data (even just an email addres, telephone number or name) whether in a paper filing system or electronically, is required to comply.

GDPR has come around because the way we work and live has changed, personal data regulations needs to be updated to reflect technological advances, the need and balance of control, organisation responsbility and consistency. Some key points;

  • Fines – limits raised from £500k upto £55M (or 4% of turnover)
  • Personal Info – will include elec info like IP addresses, passwords, digital accounts
  • Biometric and genetic data is included
  • Data protection by design at the first stage
  • Rights – peoples ‘right to be forgotten’, erasure & restriction of processing
  • Subject access, rectification and portability
  • Right to object
