Event description
2019 PRASEG Annual Conference - sponsored by Drax, Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, EnergyUK and Community Energy England

About this Event

Over the next decade the way the UK generates its electricity will undergo a profound transition. The government projects final energy demand for electricity to increase by nearly 20% between now and 2035, by which point a significant amount of existing coal and nuclear capacity is expected to be retired. BEIS Energy and Emissions Projections for 2018 show more than 48GW of new installed capacity being built during the 2020’s with nearly half of this (22GW) coming in the form of new renewable energy capacity.

Secretary of State for BEIS, Greg Clark MP, recently announced that the government would publish a new Energy White Paper in Summer 2019 to provide a vision for the future of the UK energy system. Timed to align with the expected publication of the White Paper, the PRASEG 2019 Annual Conference will explore the steps needed to build a renewable and sustainable energy system over the course of the next decade. Through three structured panel discussions and high-level speeches, attendees will discuss next steps for energy in the UK and how the necessary investments can be secured. The conference will explore exciting growth opportunities for the UK as it embarks on the journey to net zero emissions, and bring together perspectives from business, politicians and investors.

The Conference will take place on Wednesday 10th July 2019 in the Attlee Suite of Portculis House. It will begin at 2pm and bring together more than 100 attendees from business, industry, parliament, government departments and the wider UK energy sector. The Conference will be followed by a 1 hour drinks Reception (5pm - 6pm) for all attendees and parliamentarians, which will include a short speech from a guest speaker.

Further information and a full Agenda will be made available shortly.
