Genetics for social scientists (F2F)
Overview
Who is the course for?
This course is primarily aimed at social scientists who want to understand how to make use of Understanding Society’s genetic data in their work. If you are interested in accessing and using the genetic data available from Understanding Society, then please do register for this course.
Prerequisite:
Participants should have some experience of statistical analysis, preferably of the main survey data from Understanding Society. No prior knowledge of genetics is expected.
This in-person workshop takes place in London at Broadway House and is free to attend, but you will need to pay for your own travel and accommodation.
What will I learn?
This course has two elements:
• a lecture that will cover what genetic data are available from Understanding Society, what they mean and how to access them
• a demonstration of how to use these data in a Mendelian Randomisation analysis
