Description

GenGive and Amnesty International UK are partnering to bring you a live, experiential event, to engage families and children in the most important human rights issues of our time!

Every year Amnesty International runs Write for Rights, the largest grassroots campaign in the world. The campaign calls upon people across the globe to come together and stand in solidarity with others currently suffering injustice - and to publicly hold the authories to account who could change the situation for any one of these individuals.

Join us on Sunday 26th November for our FREE Family Action Day, where you and your family will have the chance to get creative, showing your support for people suffering human rights abuses. We'll have arts and crafts stations available with Amnesty campaigners on hand to talk you through each of the cases.

Here's a taste of some of the things we'll be getting up to:

  • Write messages of support on your own decorated paper leaf to Clovis Razahimalala who is an environmental activist in Madagascar. The leaves will then be hung from our Human Rights Tree.

  • Help us create a huge banner is support of immigration detainees in the UK by creating your own birds of peace.

  • Design your own paper house to be stuck onto our neighbourhood backdrop in support of Ni Yulan, a housing rights activist from China.

This event is for you if you wish to:

  • Educate your children on global issues
  • Ignite your child's social conscience

  • Take action together on human rights

We'll provide the paint, the glue, the stickers and the glitter. All you need to do is register your interest to attend and that's it!

There is no minimum (or maximum!) age to get involved - everyone is welcome. There will be activities available for both primary and secondary school kids. All arts and crafts stations will be staffed at all times. For those with younger children, we'll also have a storybook corner with a range of Amnesty's children's human rights books available.

More information on the activities will be coming soon, but in the mean time if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ruth on info@gengive.net.

We ask you to please arrive promptly at 1.00pm.

We hope to see you there.
