Gentleness of a Little Giant
Date and time
A week-long half-term creative project for young artists aged 5-8 exploring nature, memory and landscapes through art and shadow theatre.
About this event
Are you curious about the amazing stories that our older neighbours might have to share? They have lived loooooooooong lives! Let’s explore together their memories and stories and see where it takes us…
Mixing art, drawing and collage with drama and storytelling, Gentleness of a Little Giant is a creative week crammed with arty fun, culminating in some home-made shadow theatre storytelling and large-scale landscape sculptures. It will develop your inspiring ideas about the unique ways you see the world and your community around you.
To sign-up, you must be able to attend all 5 sessions Monday – Friday 10am – 1.30pm. Lunch is included. On Wednesday 1 June there will be an extended day to the National Gallery featuring a tour by the Gallery Learning Team (parents and carers are welcome to come with us)
For the National Gallery visit the drop-off is 9.15am and returning to Woodberry Down at 3pm, or alternatively you can collect your child directly from Trafalgar Square at 1.30pm.
There will be a relaxed sharing of the weeks work with parents, residents and friends on Friday 3rd June at 12 noon.
This ongoing project is delivered by local artist Andrew Mitchelson and Brazilian artist Gustavo Ciriaco (Lisbon).
Delivered in partnership with the Manor House Development Trust and Redmond Community Centre (with support from Kings Crescent TRA & Hackney Showroom).
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
