Geoff Castle is one of the great keyboard heroes of the British jazz scene, one of the first to feature synthesizers in a jazz setting in the UK. He played with NYJO in the late 60s, toured with Graham Collier, and was a member of Ian Carr’s celebrated band Nucleus. For many years Geoff was a mainstay of Paz, touring and recording from the mid-70s into the new millennium.
Other appearances include Neil Ardley, Julian Bahula, George Coleman, Ian Dury, Georgie Fame, Art Farmer, Jimmy Giuffre, John Martyn, James Moody and the Morrissey-Mullen band.
In the early 80s he spent some time in New Zealand where he recorded with saxophonist Brian Smith and began a parallel career playing on film soundtracks, which he continued back in the UK.
From the mid-90s, Castle led his own groups, which included the fusion band Strange Fruit, and composed the incidental music for the BBC’s eight part Nippon series and played on film soundtracks including The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Return of the Jedi and Space 1999.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is on-street parking in the roads round the pub.
Colindale underground station (Northern Line) is a short walk away.
Can I pay on the night?
Yes, for those who haven't pre-booked there is a collection at the interval (although you won't be entitled to the discount on meals). We do expect you to contribute the normal admission fee unless you qualify for a concessionary rate…
Are there any concessions?
Students and unwaged can turn up on the night and pay whatever you like (or even nothing). We want you to be able to enjoy the music, and maybe you'll come back and pay the full admission in better times…
