Special Rider Books & Records Presents: Geoff Dyer & Leo Robson

Don’t miss this chance to hear two brilliant literary voices. One of Britain’s most original and celebrated contemporary writers, Geoff Dyer will join critic and author Leo Robson in Shepherd’s Bush Market for a wide-ranging conversation on life, literature and much else besides.

In his recently published memoir Homework, Dyer revisits the scraps and moments that shaped him from childhood: football cards and conkers, doomed beachballs, toy Tommy guns and the school exams that decided his future.

Set in 1960s and 70s England — a country caught between post-war austerity and rapid change — Homework is not just the story of one boy growing up, but of a vanished world that still echoes in our collective memory.

A brilliantly playful and genre-defying writer, Geoff Dyer is the author of numerous books, including the novels The Colour of Memory, Paris Trance and Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi, and acclaimed non-fiction such as But Beautiful, Out of Sheer Rage, Yoga for People Who Can’t Be Bothered to Do It, Zona, The Ongoing Moment, and The Last Days of Roger Federer.

His work spans jazz, war, photography, film, travel and cultural criticism — always with a blend of humour, candour and trademark lethal sharpness. His books have been translated into twenty-four languages, and he is regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary literature.

Leo Robson is one of our leading literary critics. He is a contributing writer to publications such as The New Yorker, The New Statesman, Granta, Literary Review and the London Review of Books. His debut novel, The Boys, was publiushed this yeasr to critical acclaim.

We think this is Homework you’ll actually enjoy...
