Event description

Description

Now in its fifth year, you are invited to take part in the ETSA East London Primary Geography Bee. This project is a great way to generate a buzz about geography, to celebrate and deepen pupils knowledge and curiosity about the world, and to bring together local schools in a spirit of collaboration and high challenge.

In the Geography Bee, teams of three Year 5 pupils compete, representing their school against other primary schools from Newham and the surrounding boroughs. Questions are designed to cover the full range of the primary Geography National Curriculum, but also to go way beyond it.

Upon signing up, your school will receive a digital copy of a study pack, which will guide pupils through different topic areas which will feature in the quiz. These study guides will be crucial to supporting your school’s chances in the competition, and they encourage pupils to go off on a tangent, learning more about the social and physical geographical world around them.

Whilst the emphasis of the event is on the celebration of knowledge and the joy of bringing together local schools, it is very competitive, and each year we are mesmerised by the knowledge, memory, skills and problem-solving that pupils display.

This year’s event will take place at Elmhurst Primary School between 09:30 and 14:45 on Wednesday 6th March 2019.

The fee for each participating school is £85. All children taking part will receive a certificate, and the winning team will receive the Trophy, which will remain in their school until Geography Bee 2020.
