Description

Surging Glaciers on a Warming Planet

We are delighted to invite you to a Christmas Lecture brought to you by the Department of Geography at the University of Portsmouth.

Dr Harold Lovell is a Glaciologist specialising in fast-moving glaciers we call "surging glaciers". His work has taken him all over the world, from the isolated island of Svalbard, to the mountain regions of Patagonia. In this talk, Harold will talk about how understanding surging glaciers could help scientists understand the impact of climate change, as well as paint a picture of what the planet was like in the past.

The lecture will be followed by mince pies and a chance to meet staff and students from the department of Geography.
