About this Event

Course Content

The 2018 Ofsted curriculum research report highlighted the importance of effective subject leaders having the necessary curriculum leadership skills and expertise to design, develop and lead a sufficiently deep and broad curriculum offer for their area of responsibility which enables pupils to learn and make at least progress. Highly effective subject leaders have an understanding of important concepts related to curriculum design, such as knowledge progression and sequencing of subject specific concepts which enable all pupils to access the curriculum and make progress across the key stages. Subject leaders have a responsibility for ensuring that colleagues have access to ongoing professional development to enable them to have secure subject and curriculum knowledge to implement a broad and balanced curriculum in their own classrooms.

These network meetings are designed to provide opportunities for subject leaders to develop their leadership skills as well as to learn about the latest local and national initiatives in primary geography, to keep abreast of developments within these subjects. These network meetings will also provide colleagues with opportunities to share best practice in geography subject leadership and approaches to planning, designing and implementing an effective geography curriculum.
