Event description

Description

The George Viner Trustees are hosting a free event to celebrate 2016-2017 scholars. This is a very special evening when the scholars will be receiving their awards. The Trustees would like to invite you to join us.

Latest figures show that 94 per cent of journalists are white. The George Viner Memorial Fund was set up by the National Union of Journalists to address this and to broaden the diversity of journalists working in the British and Irish media. Since 1986, the fund has helped more than 150 black and ethnic minority students obtain the training they needed to get a job in journalism.

This year's guest speaker is Gary Younge, author, broadcaster and editor-at-large for The Guardian. His latest book is Another Day in the Death of America and he writes a monthly column, Beneath the Radar, for the Nation magazine.

We look forward to seeing you there,

GVMF Trustees, Michelle Stanistreet, Jim Boumelha, Carole Plaster and Cara Simpson

FREE ADMISSION – ALL WELCOME. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT AND YOU MUST REGISTER AND RECEIVE CONFIRMATION TO GAIN ADMISSION TO THE VENUE.
