About this event

Georgian Guildford was a prosperous, small, country town in the 18th century but improved transport links put it increasingly in touch with the fashions, ideas and celebrities of the metropolis.

'I think John Russell RA was an extraordinary man, not only a portraitist of royalty and the nobility but also a friend of the great men of science, William Herschel and Joseph Banks.'

- Janet, one of the guides on this walk
