In partnership with German Films, Raindance are proud to host three incredible actors and directors from their Face to Face programme, championing up-and-coming German talent soon to capture worldwide attention. The invitees are joined by two high-profile British guests of our own, to open a dialogue between our two industries. We discuss creative work in serial formats and film, and the differences in working between these two mediums.

PANELLISTS

Christian Friedel

In addition to his theater work, Christian Friedel has been working frequently in front of the camera. For his turn as Elser in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s 13 MINUTES, Friedel received the Metropolis-Award 2018 and he was nominated for the German as well as the European Film Award in the Best Acting category. Jessica Hausner’s historic film AMOUR FOU, in which he played Heinrich von Kleist, was honoured with an invitation to Cannes as well. Recently, Friedel could be seen in the successful series BABYLON BERLIN and PERFUME.

Maria Dragus - Actor

Most recently Maria Dragus could be seen in the highly acclaimed feature film TIGER GIRL by Jakob Lass. Recent projects include DEATH OF A CADET by Raymon Ley and the feature films LIGHT by Barbara Albert and LOST by Felix Hassenfratz. At the beginning of 2019, the international production MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS was released internationally, featuring Maria Dragus alongside Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.

Anca Miruna Lazarescu - Director

She's known for her her second feature- length show , GLÜCK IST WAS FÜR WEICHEIER , and HACKERVILLE, a HBO Europe Original series. Her short film SILENT RIVER has been invited to over 300 international film festivals and has won over 80 awards.

Nathaniel Martello-White - Actor/Director

Nathaniel’s directorial debut Cla’am in 2017 won the Raindance Film Festival Award for ‘Best UK Short’ and his recognition as one of Screen International’s prestigious ‘Stars of Tomorrow and also named as one of The Guardian’s ‘Ones to Watch’ 2017.

Percelle Ascott - Actor/ Co-Writer & Co-Founder THE WALL OF COMEDY

Percelle leads in Netflix series The Innocents. He trained at The Brit School. Screen credits include Tickle Monster for Film 4, co-lead in the BBC series Wizards Vs Aliens, and series regular for E4 series Youngers. Percelle is co-writer and founder of the online platform The Wall of Comedy. Since its launch in 2015 the platform has spanned over 5 billion views, reaching over 107,000,000 people per week.
