About this event
Join in with this mindful art session inspired by the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, where you will have the freedom and support to unwind and to get creative with collage with artist Pui Lee.
Duanwu Festival (The Dragon Boat Festival) is a festival originating from ancient China dating back more than 2000 years! This year, it is on the 3rd June 2022 and remains one of China’s most fascinating events on the calendar with its unique history and many traditional folk customs with its origins as a tribute to a national hero. On this national day, racers set sail in dragon-shaped long-boats to the sound of pounding drums. The winning team is said to bring harvest and happiness to their home villages.
At the start of the session, Pui Lee will explain what collage art is all about and offer some useful tips on how to think more creatively when using this medium that is enjoyed by people of all ages across the world! Then for the main activity, Pui Lee will guide you step-by-step how to create a collage picture of a dragon boat!
Art is always great for relaxation, reduction of stress and above all, is good fun! This workshop is well suited for those not so confident with arty activities, aiming to help get you started with some creative ideas and techniques to try out. You will end up with a collage picture that you can continue with at your own leisure if you don’t finish within the session itself. This is also a great session to extend your creative skills further if you have attended one of Pui Lee’s Get Drawing workshops before!
