Teachers, Heads of Dept., and Careers Advisers - join us for an interactive session to find out about digital in Leeds City Region and meet people in the graduate, early, mid-career and senior jobs that could become creative and fulfilling career options for our City Region’s young people.
This is a great opportunity to visit the Head Office of one of two unicorns (tech companies valued over $1 billion) in Leeds City Region and experience first-hand their operations and hear from their staff.
Learn about tech stacks, tribes, architect and Agile, decipher some of the jargon, meet the people and leave with knowledge that will inspire young people to get digital themselves.
The digital sector in Leeds City Region currently employs 70,000 people and is predicted to grow by 15% over the next five years, bringing 10,000 new jobs. With salaries that rose by 29% last year, Leeds has the fastest growing advertised salary growth of any UK digital cluster. However, we also have particular skills shortages in areas of the sector such as coding and programming skills, software development and data analysis.
We need people who can:
• translate the geek-speak and learning new languages;
• understand the different ways of working and the mind-set behind a role that gives enormous freedom to experiment;
• grasp the culture that blends a passion for problem-solving and a thirst for learning with a late start, early finish and some game-changing action in between.
To help youngsters take advantage of this huge opportunity, we need as many people as possible across the city – parents, teachers, children, young people and their advocates - to get digital.
