Event description

Description

Starting your medicine application can be daunting, so we have brought together university admissions experts, doctors, medical students and admissions experts, who know exactly what universities are looking for, to guide you through each step of the medicine application process, ensuring you have the best possible chance of getting into your top choice medical school.

This workshop will put you one step ahead of other medicine applicants by ensuring you are fully equipped to create a successful medicine application.

During the Workshop we will cover:

Is medicine the right career for me?
Hear from doctors and medical students about what life as a medical student and a doctor really entails. This will allow you to show universities that you have a realistic understanding of the medical profession.

Which medical school should I apply to?
Use our bespoke method to find the right medical school for you that matches your individual type of learning. We will teach you what that specific university is looking for and how to appeal to them.

What work experience do I need and how do I get it?
Doctors will discuss the specific types of work experience you should have and will teach you how to get those sought-after work experience places. You will also be shown how to make the most of your placements and make a good impression.

How do I write my personal statement?
Medical school admissions officers will share with you exactly what universities want to see in your personal statement. Then admissions experts will teach you the secret statement structures and formulas that can win you a place at your first-choice medical school.

1-on-1 personal statement writing session
UniMed's admissions experts will give you a 1-on-1 session to help you start, write, amend or shorten your personal statement. You will leave the workshop with a full personal statement structure that is relevant, passionate, interesting and reflects your individual personality.

How do I take the aptitude tests?
Learn what the UKCAT, BMAT and GAMSAT tests are, which universities require them, when to take them and how to prepare for them.

Q&A
Have all your questions about applying to medicine, life as a medical student or a doctor, personal statements, interviews, work experience, and everything in between answered by some of the UK's finest doctors and medical students.

What do I do next? We will give you checklists of what you need to achieve by certain milestones in order to submit a successful medicine application and get into the best medical schools. We will also offer access to additional resources including bespoke tutoring and free books, webinars, videos, and articles.

Book your place now to get a taste of life as a doctor, get a head start in your medicine application, get real work experience, and come away with a fully structured personal statement.

This course is ideal for Lower 6th and GCSE students interested in studying medicine as well as those applying for graduate medicine, however it is available to students of all ages.
