What to expect?
The workshop will start with a 30 minute deep breathing and whole body lymphatic flow sequence. Lizzy will speak about the benefits of movement for all stages of diagnosis and treatment, practical suggestions on the most helpful types of activity and how to exercise safely; with time for questions.
This will be followed by a practical session for people to learn and explore some basic strength, balance, flexibility and aerobic exercises.
The workshop will end with a short yoga session with Vicky Fox, who specialises in working with people with cancer
Lizzy worked as an Oncology Nurse for 10 years before becoming involved in Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation. She developed CanExercise for people to improve or maintain functional fitness at whatever stage of diagnosis or recovery, providing the necessary tools to support people to increase physical well-being, confidence and peace of mind. Lizzy also contributed to The Cancer Revolution - find out more about her here
Vicky has been teaching Yoga since 2008 and for the past 3 years has been running classes for people with cancer at any stage of their recovery. The classes are designed to provide a safe refuge for people to go and practice yoga, to build strength, increase range of motion and reduce stress.
