I first identified that I was standing in my own way, not achieving what I wanted to, because I felt like I didn’t have much to shout about, that I was just doing what I do. Can you relate?

I’ve often felt that those who did shout about their achievements were doing so in poor taste and it made me shy away from even thinking about going beyond my blog and email. I mean, do people even know the type of work I do?!

I realised that whilst I have run PRFest for five years, I've not spoken about any of my passions or given myself a platform to talk about my experiences.

We talk a lot about imposter syndrome. I think that’s a different kind of way of saying lacking confidence. If you had confidence, you could overcome what you were struggling standing up to. If you had confidence, you’d have more faith in yourself. Easier said than done!

But there are ways to grow in confidence and proactively help yourself get out your own way. I think we all pretty much know when we’re struggling and when we’re stagnant. But it’s at that point we need to look to understand why we’re struggling. What’s the thing which won’t let you progress?

The format of this event will be informal and after a very short 'scene setting' from me, Laura Sutherland, we'll enter into a discussion. (I also like discussions through my presentation). It's geared towards giving you confidence to look at the challenging areas/triggers and collectively we can discuss solutions.

We're getting much better at admitting we have our off days but I still don't think we're getting better at asking for help. Let's try and use this session to help yourself and the PR and communication industry.
