About this Event

To mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, the University of Portsmouth, in conjunction with its ERDF-funded projects (Accelerating Women's Enterprise, SIGHT, EMphasis3 and Low Carbon Solent) is hosting a morning of online workshops to support current and aspiring female* business owners.

Workshop Conveners:

Sara Guiel is a multi award winning entrepreneur and Founder & Director of The Mumpreneurs Networking Club and the MNC Hub. Sara champions flexible working for all entrepreneurs and is passionate about supporting business mums to make a serious financial contribution to their family economies.

Sandie Davis is the Social Enterprise Developer at HIVE Portsmouth, an organisational hub for those who are committed to the vision of a happier and healthier City of Portsmouth; the home of social action and enterprise where people can come with ideas and be supported to grow them; where individuals and families are supported to access the help and information they need.

Jennifer Head is the owner of Midnight Consulting; a sales and marketing consultancy based in Southampton. Her focus is on enabling SMEs and sole traders to succeed at selling and marketing their products/services by providing them with all the skills and resources required. With a passion for innovation, Jenny is also an active member of the University of Portsmouth's own SIGHT Programme.

Sally Beken holds a degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D in Polymer Science. She has been in tech transfer for over 15 years and has built numerous collaborations and supported companies accessing funding for innovative projects with expert knowledge of polymers. She has been an Innovation Lead at Innovate UK and monitored a portfolio of over 60 projects and co-wrote scope for plastics related competitions. She founded and currently heads up the UK Circular Plastics Network and leads on the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging activity at KTN.

EMphasis3 CO2 Reductions and Low Carbon Solent are two ERDF projects, led by the University of Portsmouth, which deliver energy efficiency/innovation audits and grants to support SMEs in reducing CO2 emissions and developing low carbon solutions. Visit to find out more.

  • We are happy for you to turn your video off and we recommend that you do this during presentations.
  • Please use the chat function to ask questions. You can do this publicly or privately to one of the event hosts. We will then read your questions to the guest speakers.
