slow stitch club teaches the art of visible mending as a way to keep the clothes we love for longer and fight the effects that fast fashion is having on our planet. Using simple sewing techniques such as darning and Sashiko, you can learn to repair your clothing in a creative, visible and intentional way.

This two hour workshop is suitable for complete beginners, and I will be on hand to share tips and tricks and answer any questions.

All materials are provided: just bring your own item of clothing to mend or decorate.

Makers’ Yard is a converted Victorian tannery, re-established as a contemporary gallery space, artist studios and community yard.

The warehouse was taken over in 2020 with a vision to create a new hub for independent designers, makers and creative businesses; a place of energy that encourages collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas and practices.

Their plan is to establish a cultural programme of performances, workshops, screenings and classes that become a meaningful part of the growing creative community in Frome.
