Description

GET THE KNOWLEDGE is an incredibly useful addition to any TV freelancer’s CV. It's presented by the UK’s leading expert on working with children, Alison Cresswell, and provides everything you need to know about filming with children, plus great tips on devising content for kids.

Over two informal and information-packed days it covers:

  • Creating great content
  • Best practice
  • Essential guide to licensing
  • Working with chaperones
  • Filming overseas
  • How to interview and cast kids

Featuring special guest experts from the children's tv sector, GET THE KNOWLEDGE not only arms you with a common sense approach to working with children in a professional environment, it is also extremely useful for anyone thinking about devising shows for young people.

Supported by the ScreenSkills Children’s TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK children’s TV productions, and delivered by Grand Scheme Media.

ALISON CRESSWELL

Alison is Executive Director for ACE (Children) and is “the font of all knowledge when it comes to working with under 18s”. Her company offers training in current guidelines, editorial advice on difficult projects, advice on good practice and how to get the best out of contributors.

At the BBC she was Senior Advisor, Working with Children. Her job was to support content makers across the BBC and in the independent sector to ensure that they complied with BBC policy and, more importantly, ensure that the children they worked with did so in a safe and creative environment. “Often my work was to ensure things didn't happen, getting involved at development level to ensure problems didn't arise, as there is so much to think about when you are working with under 18s.”
