With photography key to selling, showing and getting your products noticed, York Street Studio will share some tips, hints and knowledge from photographer Lyndon Fright and stylist Claire McCullough on how to achieve this.

Bring along your phone or camera and an item from your product range and spend time with Lyndon and Claire giving it a studio-style makeover. 

You’ll leave the session with a greater understanding of what makes a great photo, how best to utilise your phone and its settings and pride in your achievement.

Brighter Days Academy bring you the Summer Series of practical sessions that will hone your messaging, get your website and socials quietly doing more heavy lifting, help you prepare to sell to the public, shops and galleries and reach out to expand your network and customer base.

The sessions are open to all small creative businesses and free to those that are based in Thanet (outside of area there is a minimal charge of £5 per session).

About York Street Studio

The founders of York Street Studio have two decades of experience in photography and styling, with some big retail clients under their belts.

Lyndon Fright set up the in-house photography studio at Habitat and has worked with brands such as Living etc, Elle Decoration, Argos and Farrow and Ball. His meticulous attention to detail provides outstanding imagery, shooting products, people and interiors, bringing the inspiring vision to life and animating brands.

His co-founder, Claire McCullough, has a long standing background as a retail buyer, product specialist and stylist and works pre-shoot to deliver mood boards, props,  brainstorming and the practical elements of shoot production.

Are you a maker, artisan, craftsperson, artist?

Join us at Brighter Days Academy in practical sessions that will introduce you to the press, build your customer service skills, help you firm up the goals and objectives, prepare you to sell to the public, shops and galleries and reach out to expand your network and customer base.

The sessions are open to all small creative businesses and free to those that are based in Thanet (outside of area there is a minimal charge of £5 per session).

Maximum 25 places at each session

If you complete 2 or more sessions and are based in Thanet, you will also be eligible to a free photography session with a professional photographer to give you a portrait of you, the founder of your wonderful small business, in your studio.

Brighter Days Markets was established in 2013 and was awarded CIC (Community Interest Company) status in 2024 to provide benefit to makers, craftspeople and artists by supporting their activities and providing selling opportunities and training to upskill and improve their route to success. In 2024 alone it offered selling opportunities to 42 East Kent independent small businesses.

Brighter Days is part of Craft UK, a network facilitated by Crafts Council for organisations from across the craft sector and a member of a-n, The Artist Information Company.
