Event description

Description

There is a lot of complexity in the transitions through a Vinyasa and in Sun Salutations, and there is generally not the opportunity to explore these in much detail during a general class.

A key component Sarah’s style of teaching is making a flowing style of yoga more accessible. Rather than doing a ton of Chaturanga's and Upward Dog's in her classes, (as this repeated practice often ends up wreaking havoc on the shoulders and wrists) she finds ways to introduce alternatives whilst still keeping the feeling of a flowing practice.

The Masterclass will breakdown the usual suspects: Chaturanga Dandasana (4-Limbed Staff pose) and Urdhva Mukha Savasana (Upward Facing Dog pose). The aim being to help you understand the movements and shapes in more detail, and to ensure that if you are practising these poses - you’re doing so in a way that is appropriate for your body at this particular time in your life.

We’ll also explore some alternative movements and posture choices, so by the end of the Masterclass you’ll feel confident Vinyasa yoga can work for you, and you’ll know the best adaptions and alternatives, so you can adjust your practice as you need to.

Whether you’re new to a flowing style of yoga, or have more experience, this Masterclass will guide you through a more mindful and interesting vinyasa practice. It will emphasise when to listen to your body, and let go of your ego, without necessarily loosing that ‘strong’ element of the practice. Ultimately, through movement practice, exploration of different shapes and Q&A this Masterclass will help make vinyasa yoga safer and more enjoyable for you.

Sarah’s Masterclasses are a great opportunity to cover some aspects of yoga that are generally not covered, or explored in depth within a typical class. The 1.5 hour format allows time for exploration in practice, and also discussion and questions, so each persons learning journey can be supported. She runs Masterclasses on a different topic each month, so keep an eye on future events as well. If you have any questions on whether this Masterclass is right for you - don’t hesitate to get in touch with Sarah directly.
