Communicating Clearly With Your Scene Partner
How frequently after a show or class do you find yourself grousing about how your scene partner completely missed the idea you were initiating? Or that thing you were so obviously setting them up on? Base reality?
Maybe it's time to consider that your scene partner isnt a goddamn mind reader and if you want them to do something you should just say it as clearly as possible--
There's an misconception in improv that in order to surprise the audience you have to be super clever with how you are delivering your ideas, when in fact the audience are gormless rubes who can be impressed by anything you do, so it's better to make sure your scene partner is crystal clear with your ideas so you all can wow your audience with the corny parlor tricks that is longform improv.
In this workshop we will put theory into practice and work on initiations, basic agreement, clear premise pulls that still deliver laughs, and not shutting down collaborative world building in premise play.
