Getting Good Press Coverage For Your Fundraising Campaign
As a charity, or community organisation, you are likely to be rich in inspiring and life-changing stories of the impact that you have created. But are you sharing these stories to gain support, funding or both?
This workshop will focus on storytelling and online fundraising to maxmise the impact of your campaign. Grace from Yellow Jigsaw, will focus on how to sell your story and create winning campaigns and Joe from Localgiving, will share his insight into digital communications and online fundraising.
This workshop will cover:
- How to ‘sell’ your story to supporters.
- What makes a great news story to gain press coverage.
- The power of storytelling to create winning campaigns.
- How to tie your story in with social media and digital marketing opportunities.
- How to share your successes digitally.
- How to run fundraising campaigns online as well as offline.
Trainer Bio: Joe Burns
Joe Burns, is a former Corporate Fundraiser for national charity Brake and is currently Localgiving's North West Development Manager. He also has experience as a volunteer researcher and fundraiser for a local NHS charitable trust.
Localgiving works to strengthen the sustainability of the local voluntary sector. They do this by supporting local charitable organisations to diversify their income through online fundraising. Since 2009 they have helped over 5,000 small charities and community groups to raise over £13m.
Trainer Bio: Grace Dyke
Grace is co-director of the award winning PR social enterprise Yellow Jigsaw and the North West's first PR and marketing skills network for charities and social enterprises, the Big Heart Network.
A qualified trainer and experienced project manager, Grace leads on campaign management for local, regional and national clients to achieve fundraising and/or profile raising objectives.
We ask that all attendees arrive 15 minutes before the workshop starts to allow for registration and ensure a timely start and the smooth running of the workshop.

Cancellations and Refunds:
If you cancel your place at least 2 full working days before the event takes place then you are entitled to a full refund by request. Refunds for cancellations after this point are given at the discretion of Small Charities Coalition.
If you cannot make a workshop please advise us as soon as possible. Workshops normally have a waitlist and if you notify us early enough then there's a good chance another charity can attend in your place.
