Getting it right for two year olds

Target audience:

This course is aimed at all practitioners working with very young children in the EYFS, particulary those responsible for or leading the education and care of two year olds

Course Description:

There has been an increase in the number of very young funded two year olds in early years settings.

Meeting the needs of two year old can be a challenge even for experienced practitioners.

In this session we look at how to work effectively with this age group.

We will consider not only features of two year olds’ development but also the practical implications including settling in, supporting language development and creating an effective play environment.

In addition, we will consider how two year olds at risk of educational disadvantage may be given additional support

Trainer:   Penny Tassoni

Six South London, Nursery Schools and Children’s Centres, with a long history working with children and families.

We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their own abilities and talents as they grow.
STEEP's mission is to support those working with young children and their families through the provision of a range of high quality professional development opportunities including:
  • Support and Training for Childminders,
  • Initial Teacher Education,
  • CPD for Early Years professionals in schools and settings.
