About this event

Climate Ambassadors: Turning Climate Ambition into Climate Action in Education

The Climate Ambassadors programme offers education setting in England free access to expert volunteer support to develop and deliver impactful climate action plans.

Put your interest and experience in sustainability and climate change to practical use, supporting education settings to reduce carbon emissions, tackle climate risks and inspire and inform the next generation.

This introductory training is aimed at new Climate Ambassadors or those considering signing up and wanting more information before joining. It will be an opportunity to find out more, to understand the role, and to ask any questions.

The two-hour session will be split into two parts which you can see in the agenda. You can choose whether to attend both parts at the same time or on separate days, but both are highly recommended ahead of your first activity as an Ambassador.

The sessions will be held via Zoom.

All are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Frequently asked questions

What is the Climate Ambassador programme?

The scheme exists to provide free expertise and support to nurseries, schools and colleges to develop and deliver impactful climate action plans. Our nine regional hubs in England support the development of the peer-to-peer networks that enhance climate action across the whole education system.

What would I do as a Climate Ambassador?

Climate Ambassadors work with nurseries, schools and colleges to develop climate action plans, which are designed to bring together all the work that education settings are doing on sustainability and climate change. You don’t need to be an expert - you can focus where your skills align.

Who runs the Climate Ambassador programme?

The Climate Ambassadors programme is proud to be part of the  Department for Education Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, funded by the UK Department for Education. It is a consortium project led by the University of Reading and EAUC and working closely with other national partners.
