Learn the difference between preregistration and Registered Reports, and how to apply open, transparent practices in your research.

Preregistering your research or publishing a Registered Report enhances the transparency and credibility of the research process. This introductory workshop will clarify the differences between preregistration and Registered Reports, provide practical advice on using preregistration tools and explore effective implementation strategies. In addition, it provides a chance to meet with others who share the same commitment to fostering open research practices.


Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to

  • Explain the differences between preregistration and Registered Reports and describe their benefits and limitations
  • Find preregistration templates
  • Identify journals that accept Registered Reports.
  • Locate sources of support and guidance


Target audience

Postgraduate researchers at all stages and from all disciplines, and ECRs from all disciplines, broadly encompassing research assistants, postdoctoral researchers and research fellows at grades 6-8.
