An effective way to get your work seen is to take part in exhibitions and open studio events. For makers, exhibitions and open studios can be especially rewarding. Showing your work in a gallery offers you a chance to show off your more experimental work and focus on displaying your craft - as well as hopefully making a few sales! But how do you make the most of exhibiting your work?
This month’s Makers’ Club meeting will give you tips and insight into exhibiting your work in galleries and open studio events. We'll cover:
what galleries are looking for
what you can do during exhbitions and open studios to engage visitors and ultimately make sales
Our speaker this month is Gita Joshi of Orso Major Gallery in Waterloo. A second speaker will be confirmed soon.
Gita is gallery director Orso Major Gallery and orsomajor.com. Orso Major is a contemporary art gallery in Lower Marsh, Waterloo, presenting collectible contemporary art by early and mid career artists with a focus on mixed media. Gita’s background is in art history and curating. As well as supporting artists as a director for Orso Major, Gita also helps businesses to put on art shows in the workplace, connecting with their brand and Corporate Social Responsibilities.
As usual there will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion with our speakers.
Entry is free to Makerhood Makers' Club members, £4 to non-members. If you’re a maker who lives or works in Lambeth you can join the Makers’ Club here.
