Getting to Grips with the New Languages GCSE

This course is designed for all teachers of GCSE Modern Languages who are looking to adapt their teaching to the new AQA MFL specification while maintaining or improving attainment levels and results. This includes heads of departments, experienced teachers and NQTs. The course will include materials in French and/or Spanish which can be adapted for other modern Languages.


  • Understanding the focus of each unit in the new specification;
  • Examining the impact of the move to a linear GCSE: the difference between Controlled Assessment and Linear Examinations for Speaking and Writing;
  • Investigating strategies for success when teaching the new AQA GCSE specification;
  • Getting to grips with the implications of the new 1-9 grades.

Suitable for MFL Subject Leaders and Class Teachers.
