Do you provide support for young people with additional support needs in transition? Sometimes making sure you are up-to-date with policy, research, guidance and legislation can feel like wading through treacle, but not with our lived-experience led courses designed to enthuse, engage and empower! This course is your opportunity to elevate your expertise, enhance your practice, and become an influential voice in this fast-evolving sector. The accurate, applicable information we share means you will stay at the forefront of your field and support your young person the best you can.

Format:

This course brings together a small group of 8–10 people from diverse professional and personal backgrounds. All voices are equal, and you’ll engage in lively discussions, hands-on activities, and reflective evaluations. All our impactful courses are co-led by the ARC Scotland Associates young adults with real lived-experience.

Audience:

This course is an ABSOLUTE MUST for anyone supporting young people with additional needs aged 14–25. Whether you're a parent, carer, or a professional in health and social care, education, further education, the voluntary sector, or employability services, this training will equip you with essential tools and insights to make a meaningful impact.

Learning Outcomes:

Lived-experience led training will always stick with you. In this authentic learning journey you’ll:

• Deepen your understanding of the experiences of young people with additional needs and their families, and the critical importance of successful transitions.

• Learn how to collaborate effectively across roles to enhance communication and joint efforts in supporting transitions.

• Gain a solid foundation in current transition-related legislation, policies, and insights into future developments.

• Develop practical skills to apply best practices, including the Principles of Good Transitions 3, with ongoing support from the Scottish Transitions Forum.
