About this event

Join Good Homes Alliance for a ‘bitesize’ webinar on Biodiversity Net Gain and the implications of the new policy requirement for local authorities, developers and wider industry.

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is “an approach to development, and/or land management, that aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than it was beforehand.”

A national mandatory BNG requirement came into effect from 12 February 2024, requiring new developments to demonstrate and deliver an uplift of at least 10% biodiversity net gain.

Biodiversity Net Gain is a complex and emerging topic. Organisations such as UKGBC have developed a suite of resources including definitions, factsheets, case studies and checklists to help upskill industry. Local authorities such as Somerset Council have developed a non-technical summary guide and briefing note to inform developers in their region.

Join us at this one-hour webinar to find out more about BNG and the steps you can take to implement BNG policies and deliver improved biodiversity on housing developments.
