The 16th-century quayside Elizabethan Haunted Mansion reflects the life and times of the families who lived there, from Tudor to Victorian times. Come and Decide for yourself if the death of Charles I was plotted in the Conspiracy Room.

The Elizabethan House in Great Yarmouth, a striking example of 16th-century architecture, reflects the rich maritime history of the region. Built around 1560, it was originally the home of a wealthy merchant, showcasing the prosperity that came from trade during the Elizabethan era. The house features distinctive timber framing, intricate carvings, and period furnishings that provide insight into the lifestyle of its former residents.

Over the centuries, the house has witnessed numerous historical events, including the rise and fall of local industries and the impact of the English Civil War. As a result, it has become a focal point for local legends and ghost stories. Visitors often report eerie sensations and unexplained occurrences within its walls.

The most famous ghost associated with the Elizabethan House is that of a former resident, believed to be a merchant’s wife, who is said to roam the halls in search of her lost love. People claim to have seen her apparition, dressed in period attire, and have heard whispers and footsteps in otherwise empty rooms. Other spectral sightings include shadowy figures and flickering lights, contributing to the house’s reputation as one of Great Yarmouth’s most haunted locations.
