Wolviston Village Hall was originally built in 1940. It was later taken over by the Wolviston Village Association in 1982 and transformed into a community center. The hall is situated in a cul-de-sac opposite the church in Wolviston, approximately 2 miles from Billingham. It has been recently modernized with a new suspended ceiling, recessed lighting, and updated windows. A village with roots tracing back to Saxon times.
Wolviston Village Hall is rumored to be haunted, with reports of paranormal activity including footsteps, male and female voices, and the sound of a cane strike.
Before Wolviston Village Hall was built, the site was a Prisoner of War camp, initially for Italian prisoners and later for German prisoners. Prior to becoming a POW camp, it served as an Anti-Aircraft Battery. The area also has a rich history dating back to Saxon times, with the village's name possibly derived from "Wulf's estate" or named after a local dignitary named Wolvis.
