Event description

Description

A walking and drawing workshop with Turf Projects reimagining sites around Croydon though collaborative storytelling and drawing.

Ghosts of Croydon is part of the public engagement programme for the new Fair Field public space, and will help inform development of the new designs.

The Fair Field is an ambitious £10m scheme to build a world-class public space in the heart of Croydon’s emerging cultural quarter. It will provide a stunning setting for the newly-refurbished Fairfield Halls, improve links with the rest of the town centre and create a destination space for communities and visitors alike.

As part of the design development for the Fair Field, a series of workshops will explore the proposals and get your ideas for how the space can be used. Ghosts of Croydon is one of two ‘walking workshops’ led by artists, authors and experts on Croydon. They are free and open to all, however booking is essential. Each walk will visit notable buildings and places in Croydon’s town centre, and end at a public exhibition of the new design at the Fairfield Halls.

All materials and equipment willl be provided.

The workshop will be led by Skye Baker and Rosie Mills of Turf Projects. Turf Projects, founded in 2013 by Croydon locals, is the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in Croydon. The

This workshop will be run on Thursday 20 February from 2pm to 4pm and on Saturday 29 February from 11am to 1pm. Details to register for this date can be found here
