About this event

Community • City & Town

Midsteeple Quarter is a community benefit society; a community-led organisation aiming to regenerate Dumfries High Street. The Standard building is the first completed building project by Midsteeple Quarter and comprises enterprise and commercial spaces as well as residential units. ARPL, the architects behind The Standard building project, have designed the building to be highly efficient and flexible, to be able to adapt to the needs of the tenants and the wider community.

This presentation aims to showcase The Standard building – Gold winner at the Scottish Design Awards in the Affordable Housing category – for its environmentally and architecturally sustainable design. It will also be a showcase of Midsteeple Quarter for its socially sustainable organisation model for town centre regeneration.

The event will start at 3:15pm with a tour of the Standard Building and Midsteeple Quarter properties, followed by a presentation from 4pm held within the purpose-built events space by Dion Corbett (Midsteeple Quarter Society Secretary / ECD Architects) and Gordon Fleming (ARPL Architects).

For those wishing to travel by train on the Glasgow - Kilmarnock - Dumfries line, we would recommend the train arriving at Dumfries Station at 3:01pm after which the Standard building is a short 10 minute walk away. Return trains are scheduled at 4:53pm and 6:38pm.
