Nigel Feetham KC MP, Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, HM Government of Gibraltar.

Nigel Feetham, whom before taking up his Ministerial position was a Partner at Hassans International Law firm, is very well known and is hugely respected in the Gibraltar finance sector where he has worked for 30 years, including as a board member of the GFSC (the Gibraltar financial regulator) and a member of the GFSC Decision Making Committee. The sector (including gaming) accounts for a significant part of Gibraltar’s GDP, employment and tax revenues.

Nigel has also dedicated part of his career to the advancement of knowledge and education and has been a Visiting Professor of law in a U.K. University. He has authored several law books, was appointed a KC and his professional work has been recognised through numerous prestigious international awards.

Annette Perales, National Coordinator Delegate for AML/CFT for Gibraltar. With 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Annette specializes in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and regulatory compliance. She has a deep understanding of diverse financial sectors, including insurance, banking, investment firms, and virtual asset services.

Aims and Purpose

We are launching a new and exciting initiative which benefits all businesses operating in Gibraltar.

The Institute of Risk Management (IRM), together with its members working locally has recognised there is demand to enhance risk management skills in Gibraltar, which would align to the well-established, strong jurisdictional focus on compliance. Both these disciplines are crucial for maintaining regulatory standing and international credibility.

The National Risk Assessment already carried out annually, recognises the importance of embedded good risk management for identifying, assessing, managing and mitigating the high-profile risks Gibraltar faces, in common with many other jurisdictions. Failure to do so could impact the territory's economic stability, resilience, and long-term prosperity.

The Institute of Risk Management (IRM), in partnership with Gibraltar businesses, relevant educational institutions, government bodies and related industry bodies, is establishing an IRM Regional Group. The launch of the IRM Regional Group Gibraltar is the start of a journey to support local businesses to build their risk management capabilities. All local business could benefit from being a member of the Group and the IRM and this event will explain how;

The objectives of the Group are:• To create a platform for discussion for members, prospective memberships including Affiliate, Certified and Technical for professionals in the field of risk management to network, share ideas and best practices;

• To support students/young professionals interested in Risk Management as a career choice, advancing their career in risk management as well as promoting local training courses;

• To partner with local educational bodies to deliver risk management events, IRM courses and certifications.

• To develop an expert group on risk management for local businesses, relevant educational institutions, government bodies and across private & public sector industry bodies, advising on risk management processes and practices
