Gilgamesh Contemporary: a multisensorial art exhibition and performance
Event Information
About this event
'Gilgamesh Contemporary' is an audiovisual installation of video projections, music and performance art. A multisensorial experience, it figuratively narrates an adaptation of the ancient Mesopotamian story Gilgamesh. Come along the hero's journey in search of self preservation and youth, though when he does find it he is in for a surprise.
The show includes video projections of several masterpieces from the Louvre and British Museum, alongside contemporary art and photography. It is a subtle but vivid portrait of our common journey, connecting us with our individual search for control of the future and meaning.
'Gilgamesh Contemporary' is a celebration of poetry and stories, intangible cultural heritage with intrinsic value and power as a source of hope for the future. It is also a tribute to nature as well as to ancient tangible heritage that has been destroyed by neglect or violence. A multisensorial poem and experience, its intention is to challenge social indifference towards the erasure of our natural and cultural tresors.
