A unique show at Sussex's best-kept-secret venue, the Westgate Chapel in Lewes.
The show forms part of the UK tour for two acclaimed alt-folk artists and old friends, Gill Sandell & Chris T-T.
Performing as a duo for the first time, they are launching their first ever collaborative work. Walk Away, Walk Away is an atmospheric collection of noir songs from across pop, rock and folk, covering artists from Willie Nelson and Joni Mitchell to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Voice Of The Beehive. It is themed around travel and absence; separation and journey; ancient pathways and empty freeways.
Gill & Chris are both multi-instrumentalists; expect piano, accordion, guitars and effects, alongside their sublime, unusual voices in harmony. There’s also a lot of dry humour in the album and live show.
Providing support is Swan Steps, the new solo project from former Flying Machine singer, Gilded Palace of Sin founder and member of Small Shipwrecks Charlie Peverett.
Chris T-T ('One of the great underground artists of our time' Jon Snow; 'Genius, a modern-day William Blake' Sunday Times; 'The genius that is Chris T-T' Huw Stephens, Radio 1) is a Brighton-based writer, alt-folk singer and influential songwriter who has made nine hugely acclaimed albums since 1999. His most recent album The Bear (Xtra Mile Recordings) was a rock record recorded with his backing band The Hoodrats.
Gill Sandell ('This is gorgeous!' Bob Harris; 'A beautiful sounding record' Cerys Matthews) is probably best known as a member of Emily Barker's Red Clay Halo quartet, though she has also toured with the likes of The Broken Family Band and Frank Turner (including performing at the opening ceremony of London 2012 Olympics). Gill has released two solo albums in her own right, collaborating with musicians such as Ted Barnes and Adrian Crowley. Her most recent album is Light The Boats (Rowan Tree Records).
