Event description

Description

Potions and lotions, beds and breakfast, bacon, booze and bars.

Hear about Camden's varied history following a trail of old faded signage alluding to the trades and businesses that used to be here before the markets. Find out about bygone businesses, huge warehouses and manufactories, breweries, artists, chemists, and furnishers. Plus breakfast cereals, pain relief and gum.

The tour starts near Mornington Crescent and ends near the Roundhouse and Camden Stables Market – there'll only be one short section when we might have to contend with the market crowds.

The specific meeting point will be on your emailed booking confirmation and ticket.

I have another Camden walk in this area which is about Art Deco/1930s architecture – I often schedule it for the same day – please check my listings. Another ghostsigns walk from Camden Road to Kentish Town will be ready soon.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age – children aged 5 or younger are welcome at no charge.
However, please note that all other children up to age 15 must be accompanied by an adult – one child per paying adult.

Can I just show up and pay on arrival?

No, I'm sorry – this is a ticketed event and spaces are limited – places must be booked in advance.

Where exactly does this tour start?

Details of the exact meeting point will be on your booking confirmation and ticket which will be sent via email

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please don't waste time and resources printing out your ticket.
I will have a list of attendees on the day, although it would be wise to make a note of your booking reference

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

As you can appreciate, transfers/reassignments do not apply to those who just do not show up.

However, in cases of illness or unforseen circumstances I will be happy to transfer your booking to another of my walks on another date as long as you let me know at least two hours before your booked walk is due to start.

Alternatively ... perhaps you might be able to offer your ticket to a friend ... please see the next question...

Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

This is fine – just email/text me the name of the person who will be taking your place.

Is this tour suitable for wheelchairs?

The walk will be mostly on standard pavements and should not pose any problems further to those experienced on an average high street.

Jane ParkerMy guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends.
The walking tours I offer are all on subjects I am genuinely interested in – each highlights a different facet of my personality. I am specifically interested in the changing face of our streets over time and how those changes have affected local communities and the social history of an area.
