The Connaught Hotel (c) Joanna Moncrieff 2015
Known for its exclusive hotels such as Claridge's, Brown's and the Connaught (see picture above) Mayfair has always been the place to visit for afternoon tea. Hear how this tradition came about together with the surprising histories of some of the world's most famous hotels. You will hear about the Georgians' passion for ice cream, the binge eating composer and the famous gingerbread seller Tiddy Doll.
It’s not all about history though as I will show you some of the hidden cafes and shops of the area including a great cafe in a famous auction house and one of the best wine shops in London. We will also see one of London's best public gardens and some amazing sculptures tucked away in a mews.
This walk lasts approximately 90 minutes and will finish close to Green Park tube. No food or drink stops or tastings are included in this walk.
