The Connaught Hotel (c) Joanna Moncrieff 2015
Known for its exclusive hotels such as Claridge's, Brown's and the Connaught (see picture above) Mayfair has always been the place to visit for afternoon tea. Hear how this tradition came about together with the surprising histories of some of the world's most famous hotels. You will also hear about the Georgians' passion for ice cream, the binge eating composer and the famous gingerbread seller Tiddy Doll.
It’s not all about history though as I will show you some of the hidden cafes, cocktail bars and shops of the area including a famous auction house that serves a very reasonably priced afternoon tea and one of the best wine shops in London which always causes my group to gasp when they see its windows!
This walk lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and will finish close to Green Park tube in an area (Shepherd Market) with lots of lunch options. No food or drink stops or tastings are included in this walk.
