Event description

Description

What is the Female Gaze and what can it do for us? An artist, a gallerist, an editor and an author discuss.

The term "the female gaze" is now ubiquitous, but what does it actually mean? Do women see the world differently, and if so, how? Is there such a thing as a female aesthetic? How do contemporary women image-makers deal with this term in their work? Does the female gaze have to be feminist? How can the female gaze change the way we see the world?

Hannah Watson, (TJ Boulting Gallery), Zing Tsjeng (Editor of Broadly UK), Juno Calypso (Award-winning artist) answer these questions and many other problematic and probing ideas on female-generated art and photography in a panel talk led by Charlotte Jansen (Author of Girl on Girl and editor-at-large at Elephant magazine.)
