What does this session offer?

Improved understanding and appreciation of: -

  • The attitudes and perspectives of girls/young women involved in gangs; compared to young men
  • Gender roles shaping experience and the relationship between gender and violence
  • Key gender specific aspects of mental health and wellbeing
  • Applying effective risk assessment and the National Referral Mechanism (NRM)
  • Effective interventions at individual and group level
  • Maximising opportunities afforded by the Reachable/Teachable moment
  • The importance of the ‘Voice of the Child/Young Person’ to shaping service provision and tailored support
  • Trauma-Informed approaches
  • Engagement and empowerment of girls/young women and how best to respond/support
  • Roles and responsibilities of individual agencies
  • Useful reference materials, processes, procedures and best practice.

Training will be relevant to multi-agency professionals.
