Girls and Popular Culture Cafe Conversation: Being Human Festival
Event Information
Description
The representation of girl, women and abstracts of femininity within the media is having a renaissance in terms of political, cultural and social debate. The conversations have left the confines of the academic classroom to the far flung reaches of the online web and has thus opened up a long-awaited discussion about not only problems and virtues of gender, but its very meaning. Academics from the University of East Anglia will host an interactive session reflecting on the ways in which gender is represented across a range of media. Led by Dr Sarah Godfrey, the session includes a ‘Question Time’ style debate where attendees will be encouraged to participate.
