THE HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS

Programme #1: Exploring Computer-Aided Design, Laser Cutters & Robotics (Age 11 to 15)

Explore the potential of CAD/CAM by designing and manufacturing a chassis for a wheeled robot, and experience it being precision made using a laser cutter! Then learn how to get it moving by mounting and wiring up a range of electronic components, including motors, driver board & microcontroller. Once fully assembled you’ll programme your robot to bring it to life!

Programme #2: Mechanical automata (Age 11 to 15)
Combine your creative and engineering skills to design a mechanical automaton. Use specialist engineering software to add smooth and interesting movements. Add motors and a little code to bring your creation to life.

Note for all workshops: Attendees will only be permitted to undertake any drilling & soldering after a health & safety induction and under close one-to-one supervision from an experienced practitioner. Aprons, hair bands, and safety goggles will be provided.
